David Kraus: The Listening Room
Little Girl (excerpt)
David Kraus ~ nylon string guitarReturn to Tunes
Andy Shapiro ~ keyboard synth
This tune is from a CD project created by a good friend, composer/pianist & keyboards/singer/producer/professor Andy Shapiro. An incredible jazz musician and more, this CD leans into the Gospel/R&B and pop genres showing a different part of his creative abilities. The short piece here titled "Little Girl" was written for and dedicated to his then five year old daughter (she's now 20) that has lovely lyrics and is well composed. I played on several songs in the studio on this project, including this one. I like the tune very much, so for purpose of placing it in this section of my site which is all instrumental guitar both nylon/classical and electric jazz, the piece was edited allowing the intro with me on nylon string guitar playing solo with the chords and melody together to be heard. Andy enters with a short synth melody and plays over the repeat of my part. On the CD this is where the singing comes in and the tune continues on. But for the sake of my purpose here the song was edited out. The song ends exactly how it started with the solo nylon string playing the melody and chords. So this was edited onto the end of Andy's synth line making for a complete, if short, sweet song with just the guitar and synth. Andy didn't mind, and I hope you don't either:)
